Welcome to the Clinton Heights Girl Scouts web site! Our logo! We are referred to as District 3 Neighborhood 2 of the Hudson Valley Council. District 3 is Southern Rensselaer County and Neighborhood 2 consists of Clinton Heights, Hampton Manor, Prospect Heights, and parts of the surrounding Rensselaer and East Greenbush areas. In most cases, the girls registered in this Neighborhood either attend or have attended St. Mary's or Red Mill School which is part of the East Greenbush School District. These girls attend a middle school and high school that is common ground for girls from three other neighborhoods within the East Greenbush School District. Our neighborhood motto: An exciting place to be a girl. You will see many of us wearing this motto on a shirt or toting it around on our tote bags. Our Neighborhood serves approximately 200 registered girl scouts, which make up our 24 troops ranging from a Daisy Troop to 3rd year Cadettes. We have 11 Independent Girl Scouts who are active within the neighborhood at various levels. We also have approximately 65 registered adult volunteers who account for our Troop Leaders, Troop Cookie Managers and Service Team Volunteers. |

Our Neighborhood conducts monthly meetings for the Troop Leaders and Service Team Members. Girl Scout parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity for them to become more informed about what is happening in their Girl Scout neighborhood. This is a great way for folks to become involved; we are always looking for new ideas and welcome volunteers. Last year our girls had many opportunities from participating in their Neighborhood Encampment at Camp Little Notch in the Adirondack Mountains to taking a bus trip to the Bronx Zoo or the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Throughout the year they attended a birthday party for Juliette Gordon Low, donated personal care items to the less fortunate and decorated holiday pillowcases for the residents at a psychiatric center. They saw two Holiday shows at the Egg and sang Christmas carols during the Empire Plaza tree lighting and again at several local nursing homes. They spent the night "Locked-in" at the YMCA swimming and dancing the wee hours away. They attended a Brownie Valentine Party and a Junior Weather Watch Event where they met a local TV meteorologist and made tray favors for Meals-On-Wheels. The girls took their moms roller-skating and their dads dancing at our Sadie Hawkins Dance. Many girls celebrated Girl Scout Sunday at their church of worship, went ice-skating and participated in our Districts International Fair Event which had over 1000 girl scouts in attendance. The girls also went bowling and donated food to our local food pantry. Some girls received recognition and other troops bridged at our Neighborhood Recognition Event. There were girls that marched in our local Memorial Day Parade and others trained to "go the distance" at the Freihofer Race for Women held each year in Albany, New York. Our year came to a close with many of our girl scouts and their families relaxing at our annual picnic.
We are all looking forward to the new and exciting things yet ahead of us
